TGHN LAC Webinar / Strengthening Research Capacity in Nursing
“From Qualitative Research: A Nursing Contribution to Improving Health Services — Experiences of Obstetric Violence During the Childbirth Process in Adolescent Mothers”
On Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., the coordinating team of TGHN LAC Honduras, in collaboration with Global Research Nurses, TGHN LAC Colombia, and the Dominican Republic, held the webinar titled:
“From Qualitative Research: A Nursing Contribution to Improving Health Services — Experiences of Obstetric Violence During the Childbirth Process in Adolescent Mothers.”
This virtual event aimed to promote collaboration and networking among nursing professionals, fostering the development of scientific research across Latin America and the Caribbean. It also sought to strengthen research capacities and generate evidence to support the improvement of health services.
The webinar featured experts from Honduras, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, and the United Kingdom, providing a multidisciplinary and international perspective to the discussion. Coordination between Hospital Escuela and TGHN LAC facilitated academic exchange and the building of professional networks.

- MSc. Escarleth Zelaya, Nurse specializing in Gynecology and Obstetrics, Honduras.
Throughout the session, the experts shared research findings and practical experiences demonstrating the essential role of nursing in knowledge generation and the improvement of health services. They highlighted the importance of qualitative research in reproductive health, particularly for understanding experiences of obstetric violence among adolescent mothers during childbirth.
The panelists emphasized the need for nursing professionals to lead research that makes these realities visible, promoting the humanization of health services and evidence-based decision-making.
The interaction with participants during the Q&A session fostered a space for critical dialogue on nursing practice and its role in defending health rights.
This webinar reaffirmed the commitment of TGHN LAC and Hospital Escuela to strengthening the research capacities of nursing personnel, as well as to building more just, humanized, and evidence-based health systems.
