Training on Neonatal Size Assessment by Anthropometry in the Department of Pediatrics, Hospital Escuela, Honduras
Since the 2016 Zika epidemic in Honduras, the Department of Pediatrics at Hospital Escuela, in collaboration with the Department of Pediatrics of the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the National Autonomous University of Honduras (UNAH), along with other universities and training centers, has conducted assisted learning sessions using the course Neonatal Size Assessment by Anthropometry: https://globalhealthtrainingcentre.tghn.org/elearning/education/intergrowth-21st-curso-sobre-monitoreo-del-crecimiento-materno-fetal-y-neonatal-modules/estimacion-del-tamano-materno-y-fetal-mediante-antropometria/
This assisted learning takes place as an extracurricular activity during the clinical rotation of 5th-year medical students from UNAH and other universities in various inpatient wards of the Department of Pediatrics at Hospital Escuela.
In 2025, the 5th-year student rotations are scheduled on the following dates: March 10, May 5, July 7, August 25, and October 20.
Each student presents their course completion certificate to Dr. Marcela Cárcamo, Pediatric Specialist. The same activity is also carried out with other pediatric faculty members.

YEAR 2017
In 2017, a free paper was presented on the experience of training and assisted learning using the online course Neonatal Size Assessment by Anthropometry at the XIII Congress of the Central American and Caribbean Association of Parasitology and Tropical Medicine. The presentation won 2nd Place in the “Experience” category of free papers.
