Research Club on Infectious Diseases at Cariri
The Research Club on Infectious Diseases in Cariri was created to continue the initiatives of the Medicinal Plants Workshop and Researcher Mapping, expanding the dialogue between academia and the community. Its goal is to promote a space for learning and collaboration through:
- Mentoring
- Project discussions
- Virtual seminars and workshops
- Scientific communication activities
The Club focuses on the Cariri region of Ceará (Brazil), comprising 28 municipalities, with emphasis on the cities of Juazeiro do Norte, Crato and Barbalha (Crajubar). The territorial and relational proximity, especially due to socioeconomic and cultural complementarity, makes the region a rich environment for research. An initial survey through Researcher Mapping identified academic leagues and active researchers in infectious diseases, with several regional institutions conducting health education activities, including URCA, UFCA, UNILEÃO, FMJ and UNINASSAU.
The Club is aimed at undergraduate and graduate students, especially in health sciences, biological sciences and related fields, who seek to deepen their scientific research knowledge and expand their academic networks. Additionally, the club also targets researchers and scientific professionals, including masters, doctors and postdocs, interested in sharing knowledge, mentoring projects and participating in high-level discussions. Another important group includes members of academic leagues and research groups, who find in the club an opportunity to exchange experiences and collaborate in interdisciplinary initiatives. Professors and academic mentors also play a key role, contributing their experience to train new researchers.
