Implementation Research (IR) Research Club – Honduras, 2025

Club description

The Implementation Research (IR) Research Club – Honduras is a meeting space for students, faculty, technical staff, and health professionals from Hospital Escuela (HE), the Institute of Infectious Diseases and Parasitology Antonio Vidal (IAV), allied institutions, and invited members of The Global Health Network Latin America and the Caribbean (TGHN LAC) consortium.

Its purpose is to exchange knowledge, experiences, and perspectives; pose questions and collaboratively seek answers on topics related to health research with an emphasis on IR. It also facilitates networking and encourages the development of research teams.

General objective

Provide a space where participants can share, discuss, and learn from their experiences on IR-specific research areas or topics, and exchange ideas in a collaborative environment.

Specific objectives

  • Promote understanding of key IR concepts.
  • Review and analyze local and regional IR protocols and experiences.
  • Foster collaboration among institutional stakeholders to generate useful and applicable evidence.
  • Support the development of IR proposals.
  • Disseminate tools and resources available within the TGHN LAC knowledge and practice community.

Participation recognition

At the end of the year, a Certificate of Participation will be issued indicating the total number of hours attended (1 hour per meeting).

October 2025

 Second Meeting of the Implementation Research (IR) Research Club – Honduras

On October 31, 2025, the second meeting of the Implementation Research (IR) Research Club – Honduras was held, an initiative coordinated by The Global Health Network Latin America and the Caribbean (TGHN LAC).

The session was conducted in a virtual format, with 12 attendees from Honduras, Mexico, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic, thereby strengthening regional collaboration in implementation research.

During the session, the phases of Implementation Research were reviewed and key resources available on the TGHN LAC platform were shared, including the Guide for drafting the protocol profile of a study with an Implementation Research design.

In addition, the Club’s space on the platform was presented, where information, materials, and resources for members will continue to be published.

The meeting concluded with an interactive Q&A session that enabled the exchange of experiences and the identification of potential inter-institutional and multinational working groups.

The next meeting of the Club will take place on November 28, 2025, and will address the topic: 📘 “Use of the StaRI Standard to report IR studies.”

 

September 2025

First meeting of the Implementation Research (IR) Research Club – Honduras

On September 26, 2025, the first meeting of the Implementation Research (IR) Research Club – Honduras was held, a space coordinated by the Research and Academic Management Unit of Hospital Escuela, the Antonio Vidal Institute of Infectious Diseases and Parasitology (IAV), and The Global Health Network Latin America and the Caribbean (TGHN LAC).

The session was conducted virtually via Zoom and featured the participation of 16 professionals from various health and academic institutions.

The program included:

  • Welcome and introduction to the Club, highlighting its purpose, target audience, and objectives.
  • “Getting to know each other” icebreaker, where participants shared their name, institution, role, and expectations.
  • Brief introduction to Implementation Research (IR), emphasizing its importance in addressing barriers that limit the effectiveness of health interventions.
  • Exchange and Q&A session, which helped clarify questions and encourage future collaboration.

At the close, next steps were shared and the second meeting was announced, scheduled for October 31, 2025, where the topic “Phases of Implementation Research and Key Resources” will be addressed.
