Tea Time with Rising Scholars: Challenges in Editorial Management and Voices of Biomedical Journal Editors in Challenging Environments
On November 13, 2025, a Spanish-language *Tea Time with Rising Scholars* session was held to discuss the challenges of editorial management and gather insights from editors of biomedical journals working in resource-constrained settings.
Rising Scholars (https://risingscholars.net/en/), formerly known as AuthorAid, is a global open-access network that provides support, guidance, resources, and training to students, professionals, academics, researchers, and university faculty in the Global South, with the goal of reducing barriers to accessing science. Rising Scholars offers online courses and resources for early-career researchers and organizes real-time virtual events such as webinars, Q&A sessions, and *Tea Time with Rising Scholars*, including this Spanish-language session on editorial management.
To develop this session on challenges in editorial management: voices from biomedical journal editors in challenging settings, three invited speakers shared their experiences managing health sciences journals in Honduras. The session was designed around the following learning objectives: 1) Identify the main challenges within the editorial workflow; 2) Understand how authors can contribute to a timely editorial process for their manuscripts; and 3) Learn from the experiences of scientific journal editors in Latin America.
