TGHN LAC Honduras provides educational material on Hepatitis C to patients at Hospital Escuela

As part of the actions to strengthen health education and support patients throughout their care process, social service nursing students from the Catholic University of Honduras coordinated the delivery of printed educational materials based on the practical guide “Hepatitis B and C: What You Need to Know for Your Care: A Guide for Patients”, which was provided by The Global Health Network – LAC Honduras. The distributed brochures were designed to reinforce knowledge about these viral infections, promote early detection, explain available treatment options, and offer practical tools for self-care at home. Each patient received a printed tri-fold brochure that can be used to resolve questions, better understand their diagnosis, and participate actively in their care process.

In addition to distributing the material, clinical teams conducted informative sessions for patients and family members, covering topics such as routes of transmission, the importance of medical follow-up, the benefits of antiviral treatment, and measures to prevent complications. Professionals emphasized that combining in-person education with printed resources strengthens patient understanding and helps reduce the stigma associated with these diseases.

Hospital Escuela expresses its gratitude for the support of The Global Health Network – LAC Honduras and acknowledges the collaborative work between the Comprehensive Care Service and the Nursing Department of the Catholic University of Honduras in carrying out this educational activity.
