En 2026 continuamos fomentando el liderazgo en investigación en el Hospital Escuela y sus colaboradores en Honduras mediante la capacitación en buenas prácticas de investigación en salud (BPIS) con énfasis en investigación de la implementación (IR, implementation research), en el marco del Consorcio The Global Health Network Latinoamérica y el Caribe (TGHN LAC) y con la suma de esfuerzos hermanados (twinning) entre el Instituto Antonio Vidal, Tegucigalpa, Honduras, y el CIDEIM, Cali, Colombia. Los talleres BPIS-IR de Desarrollo de Habilidades (Skill Building, SKB) y Entrenamiento de Entrenadores (Train-The-Trainer, TTT) son organizados por la Unidad de Investigación y Gestión Académica del Hospital Escuela y se desarrollarán en Tegucigalpa del 18 al 22 de mayo (Habilidades) y del 25 al 28 de mayo (Entrenadores), de 2026.

Los talleres BPIS fueron desarrollados por el Programa Especial de Investigación y Entrenamiento en Enfermedades Tropicales (TDR) de la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS), co-patrocinado por UNICEF/UNDP/Banco Mundial y hacen parte de las capacitaciones ofrecidas por CIDEIM como Centro Regional de Entrenamiento del TDR para América Latina (RTC LAC) con el fin de diseminar y promover la institucionalización de buenas prácticas en investigación en salud en Latinoamérica y el Caribe. Los talleres BPIS-IR tienen el propósito de fortalecer las capacidades en la realización de investigación en salud en cumplimiento con normas internacionales de calidad éticas y científicas.  La IR aborda problemas de salud para los cuales existen intervenciones eficaces, pero hay factores (barreras o facilitadores) que afectan su implementación. La IR diseña, implementa y evalúa estrategias de implementación para solucionar las barreras y potenciar los facilitadores que contribuyan a implementar eficientemente intervenciones eficaces.

Se contará con la participación multidisciplinaria de profesionales del Hospital Escuela, del Centro Hondureño para el Niño Quemado (CEHNIQ), y del Hospital María, Especialidades Pediátricas. Se espera que los participantes contribuyan a fortalecer las capacidades institucionales para desarrollar investigaciones éticas y de calidad.

Third series of workshops on good health research practices to foster scientific leadership in Honduras

In 2026, we continued to foster research leadership at the Hospital Escuela and among its partners in Honduras through training in good health research practices (GHRP), with an emphasis on implementation research (IR), within the framework of The Global Health Network Latin America and the Caribbean (TGHN LAC) Consortium and through joint efforts (twinning) between the Antonio Vidal Institute in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, and CIDEIM in Cali, Colombia. The GHRP-IR Skill Building (SKB) and Train-The-Trainer (TTT) workshops are organized by the Research and Academic Management Unit of the Hospital Escuela and will take place in Tegucigalpa from May 18 to 22 (SKB) and from May 25 to 28 (TTT), 2026.

The GHRP workshops were developed by the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (TDR), co-sponsored by UNICEF/UNDP/ the World Bank, and are part of the training offered by CIDEIM as the TDR Regional Training Center for Latin America (LAC RTC) to disseminate and promote the institutionalization of good practices in health research in Latin America and the Caribbean. The GHRP-IR workshops aim to strengthen capacities for conducting health research in compliance with international ethical and quality scientific standards. IR addresses health problems for which effective interventions exist, but where factors (barriers or facilitators) affect their implementation. IR designs, implements, and evaluates implementation strategies to overcome barriers and leverage facilitators that contribute to the efficient implementation of effective interventions.

The event will feature multidisciplinary participation from professionals at the Hospital Escuela, Centro Hondureño para el Niño Quemado (CEHNIQ), and Hospital María, Especialidades Pediátricas. Participants are expected to contribute to strengthening institutional capacity to conduct ethical, high-quality research.
