Simposio especial Bioética Latinoamericana en Acción: desafíos y oportunidades para la conservación de la biodiversidad
El próximo 14 de enero, el Simposio Especial denominado “Bioética Latinoamericana en Acción: desafíos y oportunidades para la conservación de la biodiversidad” reunirá diferentes liderazgos de la región, especialistas en bioética, científicos/as, decisores y sector privado para debatir cómo integrar justicia, derechos y responsabilidad intergeneracional en las respuestas a la crisis de biodiversidad. Entre otros temas, el Simposio Especial abordará la participación y consentimiento, reparto justo de beneficios, financiamiento ético, y límites de la biotecnología bajo el principio de precaución, presentando al final un decálogo de principios y acciones prioritarias.
El Simposio Especial se enmarca en el Primer Congreso de Bioética y Ambiente que se llevará a cabo en forma virtual del 12 al 15 de enero del 2026 y se ha organizado con el objetivo general de explorar los dilemas, marcos éticos y oportunidades de acción para una conservación justa y efectiva en América Latina, poniendo en el centro la equidad, los derechos, la responsabilidad intergeneracional, el vínculo entre diversidad biológica y cultural y el enfoque Una Sola Salud.

Special Symposium Latin American Bioethics in Action: Challenges and Opportunities for Biodiversity Conservation
On January 14, the Special Symposium entitled “Latin American Bioethics in Action: Challenges and Opportunities for Biodiversity Conservation” will bring together various leaders from the region, bioethics specialists, scientists, decision-makers, and the private sector to discuss how to integrate justice, rights, and intergenerational responsibility into responses to the biodiversity crisis. Among other topics, the Special Symposium will address participation and consent, fair benefit sharing, ethical financing, and the limits of biotechnology under the precautionary principle, concluding with a decalogue of principles and priority actions.
The Special Symposium is part of the First Congress on Bioethics and the Environment, which will be held virtually from January 12 to 15, 2026. It has been organized with the overall objective of exploring the dilemmas, ethical frameworks, and opportunities for action for fair and effective conservation in Latin America, focusing on equity, rights, intergenerational responsibility, the link between biological and cultural diversity, and the One Health approach.
