Pathfinder TB-TST en el 14o Congreso Europeo de Medicina Tropical y Salud Internacional - Hamburgo 2025

The Global Health Network Latin America and the Caribbean participated in the European Congress on Tropical Medicine and International Health (ECTMIH) 2025

The Global Health Network Latin America took part in the European Congress on Tropical Medicine and International Health (ECTMIH) 2025, presenting the results of the Pathfinder Argentina conducted by the Argentine research team at the Institute for Clinical Effectiveness and Health Policy (IECS). The study explored the challenges of conducting a clinical trial during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The findings from the study, “Tuberculosis Treatment Support Tools Trial (TB-TST): Pathfinder to map operational and ethical barriers to study initiation during the COVID-19 pandemic,” were showcased in a poster presentation.

Representing both the Host and Pathfinder TB-TST teams, Dr Fernando Rubinstein, principal investigator of the clinical trial, and Lic. Daniela Moraes Morelli attended the poster exhibition. Morelli highlighted the strong interest from researchers across Africa, Australia, and Latin America in the analysis of operational and ethical challenges faced by the TB-TST study during the COVID-19 pandemic in Argentina.

Using the Pathfinder approach, the Argentine research team, led by Dr Javier Roberti, identified regulatory, logistical, and ethical barriers, and proposed mitigation and resilience strategies that helped preserve scientific integrity during one of the greatest global public health challenges of recent decades.

The Host study was funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) (Grant R01 AI147129-02), and the Pathfinder project by Wellcome (Grant 226688/Z/22/Z).

The Global Health Network América Latina y Caribe participou do Congresso Europeu de Medicina Tropical e Saúde Internacional (ECTMIH) 2025

Os achados do estudo “Tuberculosis Treatment Support Tools Trial (TB-TST): Pathfinder to map operational and ethical barriers to study initiation during the COVID-19 pandemic” foram apresentados em formato de pôster.

Representando as equipes Host e Pathfinder TB-TST, estiveram presentes o Dr. Fernando Rubinstein, investigador principal do ensaio clínico, e a Lic.
