Nuevo recurso disponible: material para diagnóstico diferencial entre Plasmodium falciparum y Babesia spp.
Ya se encuentra disponible en la plataforma The Global Health Network LAC el recurso técnico “Medios Auxiliares para el Diagnóstico Diferencial de Plasmodium falciparum y Babesia spp.”, desarrollado por la Asociación Hondureña de Parasitología, el Hospital Escuela, el Instituto Antonio Vidal y TGHN LAC.
Este material ilustrado integra comparaciones morfológicas esenciales para fortalecer la precisión diagnóstica microscópica en laboratorios clínicos, centros de referencia, bancos de sangre y espacios de formación. Su utilidad es especialmente relevante en contextos donde la microscopía continúa siendo el método principal de confirmación y los recursos diagnósticos avanzados pueden ser limitados.
El documento consolida imágenes comparativas, descriptores clave y recomendaciones para facilitar la diferenciación entre ambos parásitos, constituyéndose como una herramienta aplicable en vigilancia, enseñanza y práctica diagnóstica de rutina.
