ARGENTINA


Mercedes Rumi

Latin America and the Caribbean Lead, The Global Health Network

Mercedes is a medical doctor from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), Argentina, where she has assisted in the conduction of Prenatal Stress research, within the Perinatal Neurodevelopmental Programming Laboratory. Her motivation lies in discovering and helping advance medicine, for which she has worked in Infectious Diseases Prevention projects in Kenya and Colombia. To facilitate and strengthen research across LMICs, within The Global Health Network LAC, Mercedes establishes partnerships with research groups, organizes workshops, and supports learning initiatives in different Universities and health centers.

Cristiani Vieira Machado

Regional Lead

Cristiani Vieira Machado is a doctor, researcher and teacher at the Sergio Arouca National School of Public Health in Fiocruz. She holds a Master's and PhD in Public Health (UERJ) and completed a post-doctorate in Political Science (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill-USA). She is currently the Vice President of Education, Information and Communication of Fiocruz.

Vanessa Jorge

Deputy PI: Coordinator of Information and Communication

Vanessa Jorge, is a graduate in archivology (UniRio), Master and PhD in Information Science (IBICT/UFRJ), and also did a postdoc at the same institution. Currently, she is the Information and Communication Coordinator of the Vice Presidency of Education, Information and Communication (VPEIC / Fiocruz).


Flávia Bueno

Executive Coordinator

Flávia Bueno, is a psychologist, has a residency (UFRJ) and a Master's degree in Public Health (Fiocruz). She is a PhD in Global Health and Sustainability (USP). Currently, she is the executive project coordinator of the Fiocruz Hub at The Global Health Network, acting in the Coordination of Information and Communication of the Vice Presidency of Education, Information and Communication (VPEIC).


Larissa Marques

Data Coordinator

Larissa Marques, is a nurse, specialist in health management with both a Master's degree and a Doctorate in Collective Health (epidemiology area) (UFSC). Post-doctorate in epidemiology (Fiocruz). She is currently the data coordinator in Hub Fiocruz projects in The Global Health Network, acting in the Coordination of Information and Communication of the Vice Presidency of Education, Information and Communication of Fiocruz (VPEIC).


Luísa Picanço

Communication Analyst

Luisa Picanço is a journalist (UnB) and a Master in Education, Dissemination and Management in Biosciences (UFRJ). She currently works as a communication analyst at the Fiocruz Hub in The Global Health Network, acting in the Coordination of Information and Communication of the Vice Presidency of Education, Information and Communication of Fiocruz (VPEIC).


Luciana Monteiro-Krebs

Data Analyst

Luciana Monteiro-Krebs, has a PhD in Information and Communication Sciences (UFRGS - Brazil), a PhD in Social Sciences (KU Leuven - Belgium), a Master's in Applied Linguistics (UNISINOS - Brazil) and a librarian (UFRGS - Brazil). She is a specialist in Organization of Knowledge, Human-Computer Interaction and Computational Linguistics. She is currently a data analyst at the Fiocruz Hub at The Global Health Network, working in the Coordination of Information and Communication of the Vice Presidency of Education, Information and Communication of Fiocruz (VPEIC).


Vitor Villaça

Systems Analyst (Developer)

Vitor Villaça is a computer scientist, specialist and Master in Scientific and Technological Information in Health. He currently works as a systems analyst at the Fiocruz Hub in The Global Health Network, acting in the Coordination of Information and Communication of the Vice-Presidency of Education, Information and Communication of Fiocruz (VPEIC).


Amanda Bejar

Administrative Assistant

Amanda Bejar has a degree in Events (UNESA) and a technologist in Optometry and Contactology (SENAC). Currently, she is specializing in Project Management. She has a multidisciplinary professional profile marked by fifteen years of managerial experience – with a focus on articulation between strategic collaborators, the generation of financial and accountability reports, as well as the organization of scientific events. She is currently an Administrative Assistant at the Fiocruz Hub at The Global Health Network, acting in the Coordination of Information and Communication of the Vice Presidency of Education, Information and Communication of Fiocruz (VPEIC).


Cristiane Bresani

Regional Collaborator (Clinical Research)

Cristiane Bresani is a doctor, specialist in General Medicine, has a Master's degree in Maternal and Child Health and is a Doctor of Science (Fiocruz). She works as a clinical researcher at the Laboratory of Virology and Experimental Therapy (LaViTE) at the Fiocruz office in Pernambuco, where she is a regional collaborator, carrying out the activities of the LAC regional Program of The Global Health Network.

HONDURAS


Jackeline Alger

Honduras Regional Coordinator, Faculty of Medical Sciences UNAH

Jackie is a Parasitologist working in the Department of Clinical Laboratory at University Hospital in Tegucigalpa, the main public health hospital in Honduras, as well as a faculty member in the Research Unit of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Honduras, an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Tulane School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine (SPHTM) in New Orleans, and a board member of the Instituto de EnfermedadesInfecciosas y Parasitologia Antonio Vidal—a non-profit organization devoted to training, advising, and conducting research in the field of infectious diseases. In addition to being a scientist and teacher, Jackie is strongly committed to making sustainable health research a national priority and to strengthen the capacity for research and innovation in Honduras. By combining clinical laboratory work, teaching, and research activities with a passion for mentoring graduate students, post-graduate trainees, and faculty members performing health research, Jackie builds interdisciplinary bridges and promotes international collaboration and networking to advance scientific research in Honduras.In 2019, Jackie was awarded a special commendation as Honduras HIFA Country Representative for year 2019: http://www.hifa.org/news/christopher-chibuike-alagboso-nigeria-hifa-country-representative-year-2019 A further profile was published recognising Jackie’s achievements by WHO-TDR: A career focued on parasitology and capacity building

PERU


Roxana Lescano

Peru Regional Coordinator, NAMRU-6

Roxana has served at NAMRU-6 for more than 30 years and in the role of Director of Research Administration since 2005. Her experience spans from IRB member training to program oversight and monitoring, assisting the institution and other institutions in Peru in the development of their institutional policies and educational programs in areas of human subject’s protection, scientific integrity and care and use of animals. Roxana participated as an NIH grant reviewer and is a frequent lecturer at master’s programs and professional associations in the topics of human subject protection and research integrity, in Peru and in other countries in Latin America. Roxana graduated as an attorney and has completed a Masters in Bioethics and a Masters in Epidemiological Research.
